Growing up in rural Wisconsin, north of Minneapolis and south of Canada, I never expected that my early experiences with the internet would turn into a career. My love of all-things-internet began in the early 90s. I built my first BBS (the first kind of social network) in 1992 and I specifically recall the excitement I felt when I upgraded to a 14.4bps-speed modem.
That experience coding and exploring the early days of “the world wide web” was a passion from the start, eventually leading me to speaking at conferences around the world, landing on lists of the top people in social media and, being interviewed in publications like Mashable, CIO.com, and Business Insider.
For over 15 years, I’ve helped some of the world’s best brands shape their social media, SEO, and digital marketing strategies. My client credits include Estee Lauder Companies, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Nike, Wells Fargo, Verizon, Cisco, UPS, and a handful of brands under the Coca-Cola umbrella, just to name a few. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking at some of the best internet marketing conferences around the world, including SXSW, SMX, Digital Summit, and more. I was one of the first professional community managers and to date, I’ve managed nearly $6.5 million in Facebook Ads spending.
Outside of my work in marketing, I also own a photography business based in Atlanta, Ga. My work focuses primarily on NGO photography, photojournalism, and concert photography. My other half, Bill, is a videographer, and together we’re a fantastic team of storytellers. We also own and run ATLpartyBooth. We’ve been in the shoes of other creatives, and we know exactly the type of challenges that face photographers and videographers today.
That’s why I launched The Marketographer – to help other photographers cut through the clutter and start making sound marketing decisions that move their business forward. The more involved I became in the photography community, the more I realized that there were many areas of digital marketing that felt overwhelming for so many photographers. My primary areas of expertise are social media strategy, SEO, Facebook advertising and psychographic targeting, remarketing, and content marketing strategy.
